Renegade Ops is a pedestrian name for such an absurdly explosive game as this new overhead downloadable shooter from Sega and Avalanche Studios, the Just Cause guys. It's like someone played a whole lot of Jackal back in the '80s and then, sometime recently, figured out the only way that game could be improved is with experience points, a skill tree, physics, and four-player co-op. Luckily for us, whoever had that idea was right on the money. This game is a blast.

It's probably not a surprise that Renegade Ops is so much fun purely because of the way it plays. The cars have low traction and an almost perfect feeling of weight to them, allowing you to kick out your back end as you skid around corners, spin a quick 180, or just do donuts forever if that's your thing. The game uses dual-joystick controls, so while you're sliding around every which way, you can shoot every which other way at the same time, allowing you to dodge around the smaller vehicular enemies and run circles around the larger tanks, blasting them constantly. Everything about the feel of the combat, particularly the fully upgraded regular machine gun and add-on weapons like rockets and a railgun, is solid and hard-hitting and really satisfying.

The game looks darn good, considering it's downloadable and uses an overhead perspective. There's so much height to some of the maps, as you drive through canyons and over hills and such, that the terrain closer to the camera blurs out with a depth-of-field effect. More importantly, everything explodes real nice. This is a game about nonstop, total destruction of everything around you, so it's a good thing Avalanche knows how to do fire and explosions with such style. All the carnage is rendered by the same technology that powered Just Cause 2, which somehow makes it all the more ridiculous since here it takes place amid ant-sized soldiers and armored vehicles the size of Matchbox cars.

Sword of the Stars II: Lords of Winter is a huge disappointment. After more than a dozen patches as of this review, it remains a buggy, difficult-to-play mess, prone to multiple crash bugs and freezes, obscured by unclear mechanics, and bereft of helpful guidance. Even if you have a great deal of patience and a professed love of deep strategy games set in space, you should avoid Sword of the Stars II until developer Kerberos Productions has fixed the unfinished product it's currently selling.

The basic structure of this 4X (explore, expand, exploit, exterminate) space game blends turn-based strategizing with real-time combat. The turn-based portion is all about exploring the galaxy and building your empire. Activities here include designing ships, building space stations, creating fleets, researching new technologies, engaging in diplomacy, managing your economy, colonizing worlds, and plotting your next move. The real-time proceedings are all about blasting your enemy into cosmic dust or preserving your own forces against overwhelming odds. As the game progresses, a rhythm develops in the turn-based portion as you check in on your economy, your fleets, and your tech status, and then balance all of this in your intergalactic checkbook. It’s here where you build your grand strategy for winning the game, though this is far from an easy task thanks to the technical issues and poor interface.

One of the game's greatest frustrations is that it doesn't teach you how to play it. It lacks a tutorial, and even the seasoned strategists at whom the game is targeted would benefit from something that walked you through its confusing systems. A downloadable beginner's guide and some basic tutorial screens were patched in, but even with this help, Sword of the Stars II is often baffling. The various information screens for your economy and starship design are similarly arcane. The graphs that show the differences between weapons are small and difficult to understand. This makes deciding which weapons you want to install on your starships perplexing; the game doesn't do a good job of explaining how the different types of damage affect potential targets or the power drains (and other costs) of using such weapons. Easy-to-digest information is the lifeblood of strategy games, and Sword of the Stars II fails to present it to you properly.

It is a complete conversion of Half-Life 1. The entire game is made by the developers of the mod. Also, the mod uses a new style of game that you rarely find other modes, such as embedded videos, and more.

Cry of fear - Modification for Half-life which is a complete remake (models, sounds, textures it.d. absolutely new, and not copied from Half-life 1) in the genre of survival horror.

The developers are modifying Team Psykskallar (Two members of this team are also working in DICE) who also developed such a fashion as: Resident Evil: Cold Blood, Afraid of Monsters and the Afraid of Monsters: Director's cut.

The game has single player campaign where you have to assume the role of Simona. He awoke in a dark alley not knowing what happened to missing persons and where there were monsters. The player will learn the answers to these questions, as well as solve puzzles, shoot the monsters and explore Stockholm and its surroundings.
The game also features co-op mode for 4 players. In the cooperative will have its own storyline, and, despite the fact that the location will be the same as you play them will be in a different order (start from the end and go to the top of the single-player campaign), and there will be other weather effects.
The game will be multiple endings for both campaigns, as well as a large number of secrets that open during and after the passing game. These are clothes for your character, body armor, as well as developer comments on the similarity of those that are in the games from Valve.

The amount of customisation and choice available from RACE Injection is incredible. Whether it’s single player vs AI racing, beating your own lap times against a ghost or online multiplayer competition you’re after, this game has it all. You can pretty much race whatever type of car you like, with as little, or as much realism as you like, too. Want some adrenaline fuelled arcade style fun? No problem, simply remove all realism settings and off you go. Want full simulation, right down to adjusting your seat, switching on lights, removing visor tear-offs and full vehicle damage? You’ve got it. Whatever you want from a car racing game, as long as it’s not explosions, power-ups and floozies with massive boobs, RACE Injection will satisfy. Simbin don’t do inane gimmicks like unlockable trendy skins, virtual clothes stores or mind-destroying cut scenes. This is about high quality racing and attention to detail. As before, my only tiny gripe is the lack of a persistent single player career mode.

Xotic, the first-person shooter from indie developer WXP Games, is decidedly weird in every way, from its story and weapons to its surreal visuals. Sheer strangeness only gets you so far, though, as the odd elements of this $10 indie game come at the cost of approachability. Xotic's psychedelic aspects may lure you in but they can also push you away; the game's efforts to be unique often come at the cost of playability. This is one of those games you admire for its boldness but don't totally enjoy playing.

At first, Xotic is pleasantly surreal. The story is about as easy to follow as a French art flick from the '60s. Some ancient entity known as The Orb has gone nuts after an eternity of living as a non-corporeal energy being. So it does what all non-corporeal energy beings do when frustrated and goes on a galaxy-wide rampage, possessing creatures and destroying planets with attractive, red-glowing toxins called scabs. That's where you enter. You play some sort of stick-figure alien warrior genetically designed to fight The Orb, who comes complete with a "weaponized symbiotic creature" called the macroterra. This creature can be custom fitted with nifty, creepy devices, such as energy weapons, a virus gun, and homing insects. You can even rig up "hard holograms" that function as jumping platforms, which can help you reach high places. Experience points are gained for successfully clearing most levels in the single-player-only campaign (there are no multiplayer modes of play). These points can then be rolled into new weapons, extra damage effects, and buffed core stats that govern health, ammo, and armor. Everything you do goes into an arcade score that is tabulated for bragging rights in online leaderboards at the end of each successfully completed level.

It's immediately apparent that this isn't exactly a traditional run-and-gun shooter. Maps in the four-stage campaign are stocked with about two-dozen brief levels and are just as zany as the way-out weapons. Every scene is relatively small, featuring little more than handfuls of enemies dotted among surreal landscapes. Environments are packed with thorny spikes, glowing scab buttons that can be shot to power combos, power-ups that do things like increase health or weapon-fire rate, gems to increase your score, and alien fauna straight out of an episode of the original Star Trek. It's all combined to be rather stunning to look at, with a lot of bright colors and glow effects. Any action you take is accompanied by explosions of neon pyrotechnics. Gameplay is offbeat as well. There are just handfuls of enemies to kill in each stage, so you spend more time blasting scabs and collecting points than wasting foes. Even the bad guys are straight out of some twisted take on the creature cantina, with deformed Gollum-like aliens that yelp like wounded dogs when shot, gawky androids, and even creeps that look like robotic Zulu warriors. The art-house vibe is very strong with this one.
